Is there anything I can do to reduce battery consumption?

When you are not recording a trip Trail Boss goes to sleep when you are not using it. In this case Trail Boss does not consume any battery power.

When you are recording a trip Trail Boss must stay awake when your phone is off or you are using another App so that it can continue to record your movements. Trail Boss utilizes sophisticated techniques to reduce power consumption in this case and usually you don't need to worry about it.

However, there may be times when you need to conserve power. Trail Boss has two options you can use in this case. These options allow Trail Boss to go to sleep when you shut the phone off or use another App.

Trip Pause: When you press the End Trip button a confirmation popup is displayed and one of the options is 'Pause Recording'. When you select this option Trail Boss will go to sleep (and not consume any battery) when you shut off your phone. You could pause your trip during long stops like lunch breaks. You could pause recording during segments of your trip that you don't need or want to record.

Manual Record: Select this option in 'Trip Settings' on Trail Boss's Settings page. Use this option when you don’t need a high resolution track recording. Track points are not automatically added to your trip. You must occasionally turn on your phone and use the + button to add track points to your trip. Manually add track points at significant locations such as turn points and elevation peaks & bases. When using Manual Record mode Trail Boss goes to sleep when you shut off your phone.
