Why does elevation at ⊹ sometimes not show?

When you drag the map, distance and heading from your current location to the ⊹ cursor and elevation at that spot are shown at the top left of the page.

The elevation information is obtained from an internet server. It can take a few seconds for this to happen so there is usually a small delay before it is shown.

If you don't have an internet connection, elevation data will not be shown.
