What are proximity alerts?

Post by bruce@handylogic.ca » Wed Jan 02, 2019 5:53 pm

Trail Boss can alert you with an audible tone when you approach one of your placemarks. Trail Boss will display a popup alert message and play the alert tone when you approach a placemark. The alert is cancelled when you arrive at the placemark. You can manually cancel the alert by dismissing the popup message.

To enable this feature go to 'Barometer, Sounds, Screen' in Trail Boss's Settings page and enable Placemark Proximity Alert.

Proximity alerts are only available while you are recording a trip.

You can disable/re-enable proximity alerts for individual placemarks by tapping the placemark and choosing the Edit option in the popup.

A typical use is to mark important trail intersections with a placemark before you start your trip. Trail Boss will sound an alert tone as you approach these intersections. You no longer have to continuously check the map to see if you are getting close to a required turn.
